Robert Orville Hagmann

Robert Orville Hagmann, a cherished son, father, and beloved brother, passed away on October 12, 2023. Born on January 6, 1952, in Champaign, IL, Robert's journey in life was marked by resilience and kindness. He resided in Kempner, TX 76550 during his final years. Raised in the picturesque town of Albert Lea, Southern Minnesota, Robert found joy and solace in the close-knit embrace of his family. Alongside his sister Peggy, he was nurtured by his grandparents Bernard and Florence Hagmann. Their family home was situated on Lover's Lane, a street that held nostalgic memories of his childhood. As he transitioned to Springfield, Robert marveled at the change in scenery, from attending Southwest Jr. High to Southeast High School. He often spoke fondly of the winters, reminiscing about the towering snowdrifts that allowed him and his friends to construct tunnels, connecting one end to the other. And who could forget the magnificent willow tree in the backyard that became their haven, offering a vantage point to observe the lively neighborhood across town, where his cousins resided. From an early age, Robert displayed a strong work ethic and an affinity for mechanics. His first job involved assisting his Uncle Morrell in digging graves in the various cemeteries of the town. This experience, though somber, instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and taught him the value of hard work. A significant highlight in Robert's life was the memorable camping trips with his grandparents and Uncle Harly and Aunt Cleone. They embarked on ventures to South Dakota, where they visited relatives and basked in the beauty of the Black Hills. A particular journey to California and back held a special place in his heart. Departing in May, right after school ended, the family embarked on an adventure that lasted throughout the summer, returning just in time for the start of another school year. The memories forged during those trips were treasured and often recounted with a twinkle in his eyes. Robert proudly served his country in the military and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. As a Military Police (MP), he contributed his unwavering commitment and dedication to his fellow servicemen, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered. Robert's legacy lives on through his siblings and children. He cherished the moments they spent together, finding solace in the memories they created. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and missed.
