Floyd Francis Rendon

Floyd Francis Rendon, 91, of Menard passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 Visitation will be on July 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Services will be Monday July 9, 2012 at Menard Cowboy Church at 10:00 a.m., Interment at Rest Haven Cemetery. Floyd was born in Deer Trail, Colorado on Sept. 24, 1920, to Lupe and Eliaza Rendon. He moved from Colorado to Texas in 1950, where he worked on ranches in the surrounding counties. He married Louise Flippin on June 30, 1960. Daddy was quite a horseman, and loved to rodeo, saddle bronc was his favorite, but was a pretty good hand at roping also. He loved horses all his life, and passed his wealth of knowledge he had obtained through the years lovingly on to his kids. During his participation in rodeo and roping throughout the years he made many long lasting friendships. Floyd loved all animals, including his dogs, Rascal, Buddy, Rocco, Ears, and of course Peanut, a very special dog he rescued. Floyd was also a heavy equipment operator and owned his own business for 30 years. He served in law enforcement for 20 years, including Chief of Police, Deputy Sheriff, and then Sheriff of Menard County. Survivors include his daughters; Mary Lou Conceicao, and husband Clement of Grape Creek, Kay Griffith and husband, Stacey, Nancy Gibbs and husband Donnie, and Rainel Cochran, all of Menard. Sons; Jamie Cochran and friend Glenda of Dutch Harbor, Alaska and Carlton Cochran and wife Brenda of Menard. Grandchildren; Joshua Griffith and wife Stephanie of Pflugerville, Cody Griffith and wife Kaci of Wall, Kacey Griffith of San Angelo, Joey Hernandez of Norfolk, Virginia, Kyle Hernandez of Pasadena, Texas, Misty Whitaker and husband Brandon of San Angelo, Saffron Davis and husband Jack of Winters, Luke Everett and wife Brittany of San Angelo. Great grandchildren; Alec Griffith, Diego Hernandez, Logan Chaney, Colton, Hunter, and Kaitlin Whitaker, Tana Struve and husband Stephen, Lane Gibbs, one great great granddaughter Paisley and numerous nieces and nephews one sister; Doris Knouse and husband Bill, and one brother; Lloyd Rendon of Colorado, and a very special friend Margaret Beyer. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise, grandsons Kelly Green and Shad Wright Lohn, sisters Tillie Wilson, and Terry Knouse, brothers Sandy Rendon, and John Rendon. The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers Jennifer Valdez, Taron Beyer, Laura Ellis, and Odyssey Hospice, especially Susie West as well as his doctors Brett Nile, and Michael Blanc, and Diane Alford. Pallbearers: Joshua Griffith, Cody Griffith, Kyle Hernandez, Luke Everett, Jack Davis, Lane Gibbs, Tommy Beyer, Jay Beyer, Yancy Butch. Honorary Pallbearers: Banner Swindell, Chester Low, Buck Miller, Arthur Leistkow, Diego Gonzales, and Tony Prieto.
