Brenda Joyce Wood, age 76, of Brownwood and formerly of Port Lavaca, passed away Thursday morning, March 24, at Pecan Bayou Care Center in Brownwood. She was born April 10, 1945, in Port Lavaca, the daughter of Alton Edgar Wood and Lilyan (Shannon) Wood. Following her graduation from high school, she attended college classes and later worked for GTE as a telephone operator for over 30 years before retiring. She had been a resident of Brownwood for the past six years moving from Port Lavaca. She was of the Church of Christ faith. She is survived by two daughters, Jamie Sundin and husband Gary and Amanda Preslar, three grandchildren, Katelyn, Kelsey, and Kaleb, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Rusty Wood and a sister, Debra Lehman as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Christian. She was cremated under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel in Brownwood.
