Arthur B. Cantwell

September 30, 1941 - April 25, 2022

Memorial Service for Arthur B. Cantwell will be held on Thursday April 28, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Arthur was born September 30th, 1941 to Jimmy and Opal Cantwell in Comanche County. He was one of seven children; four brothers and three sisters. Arthur married Jean Ellen Crockett October 20, 1962. He is the father of Mike Cantwell and his wife Renee Searcy of Brownwood, Dianne Cantwell Hughes and her husband Roy Hughes of Corpus Christi, and Terry Cantwell of Brownwood. Arthur is known as Grandad by Zach Radenz, Colton Hughes, Regan Hughes,Tana Elliott, Daniel Radenz, James Radenz, and Garrett Arney. His great grandchildren include Cohen and Landon Arney. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Arthur lived in the Blanket/Brownwood area his whole life and spent over 35 years at Superior Cable. He enjoyed working with horses and other livestock, building things for his homestead out of wood and metal, and eventually golf won his primary focus in his later years. He was a member of the Brown County Sheriff's Posse riding club and was also active in area livestock shows and events. He also enjoyed watching Brownwood Lion football games, Howard Payne basketball games, and other area sports teams. He was also known to joke around on occasion. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Opal Cantwell, sister Vivone Arnold, brothers Worthy Cantwell and Nolan Cantwell. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Jean Cantwell, his children, his brother Alvie Cantwell, and sisters Vanita Bedingfield and Fayrene Teague. Arthur loved his family and friends very much and was also loved by many.
