Anna Darlene Fields

January 14, 1940 - October 1, 2021

With great sadness we announce the passing of Anna "Darlene" Fields. She left this world suddenly on October 1, 2021, at the age of 81, to go to her heavenly home. The Lord was ready for her. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born to John and Carrie Parr on January 14, 1940, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was the baby of the family growing up with three sisters and one brother. She went to school in Ark City High School, graduating class of 1958. After graduating from high school, Darlene was married to Raymond Wigley from 1958 to 1973. Together they had three children: Linnea, Kimberley, and Kenneth. Darlene was living in Hobbs, New Mexico raising her children and working at Safeway when she met her husband, Wilson "Pete" Fields. They were married on March 18, 1978, and lived full lives in Odessa, TX. She grew her family through Pete's five sons: Brent, Weldon, Dean, Guy, and Kelly. Darlene is preceded in death by her stepson, Weldon Fields (1995). During their time in Odessa, they were members at Crescent Park Baptist Church for over 20 years. Their home in Odessa welcomed many family and friends to play games like Skipbo, Hand & Foot, 42, and dominoes. She could be seen walking her grandkids across the alleyway behind the house in Odessa to the snow cone stand during summer break. In 2000, they moved full time to their farm in Bangs, TX. During their time in Bangs, Darlene and Pete could be found riding around checking on the cows and feeding Jenny, the donkey. Darlene, who is known to many as "Nana", loved spending time baking sugar cookies for Christmas and letting her grandkids decorate them. She cooked delicious food for her family and friends. Anyone who knew Nana knew that she enjoyed being a homemaker and cleaning house was one of her best skill sets. Many would jokingly say you could eat off her floor. Many of her years in Bangs were spent volunteering at the Brownwood hospital. She had a true servant's heart, and she never forgot the power of whom she served. She spent her life in the presence of God and as she took her last breath on earth, He welcomed her home while her loving husband held her hand. She will forever be remembered and loved. Darlene is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Wilson "Pete" Fields; daughter Kimberley of Wichita, KS; Kenneth and his wife Stephanie of Fate, TX; daughter Linnea and her husband Michael of Wichita, KS; son Jeremy and wife Jeanette of Chantilly, VA; stepson Dean and wife Karen of Brownwood; stepson Brent and wife Cindy of Brownwood; stepson Guy and wife Susan of Odessa, stepson Kelly of Odessa; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends. We will gather together in the chapel at Davis Morris Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, for a visitation from 6:00-8:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church of Bangs, where they are dedicated members with Pastor Pepper Dill. A graveside service will follow at the Bangs Cemetery. Flowers in her favorite shades of pink will be provided by the local florist, Bangs Flower & Gift Shop (325) 752-6825. Services entrusted to the care of Heritage Funeral Home/Davis Morris Chapel in Brownwood. Please visit the online memorial at www.heritagefuneraltx.com.
