Wilma Lorene Durtschi

Wilma Lorene Durtschi of Brownwood, TX passed away on February 20, 2023, at the age of 98. Wilma was born in San Saba, TX. She grew up in the Wichita Falls area, graduating from Texas Women's University, Denton, in 1946. Upon graduation, she married US Air Force pilot, Arthur Durtschi. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2013. After a brief residency in Wisconsin, Wilma and Arthur moved to Brownwood, TX where they joined the family business, Massey Auto Parts, and Wilma worked as parts inventory clerk. They would continue in the auto parts and repair business as Durtschi's Used Cars until the passing of Arthur. At the time of retirement, Wilma was the bookkeeper for Woodland Heights Pharmacy. Arthur and Wilma attended First Baptist Church Brownwood where Wilma taught girls Sunday School. After Arthur's passing, Wilma moved to Dallas to be near her son; however, Brownwood was where she called home. Wilma loved and adored her family. She was a wife, affectionately called Willie, to Arthur Durtschi. Willie was Arthur's beloved and she was so proud to be his wife. She was Mother to Charles. As a widow, she trusted him and was lovingly cared for by him, and wife Pansy. She had such deep affection for her family by marriage, the Wisconsin Durtschis. One of the sweetest roles and names she received was Grandmother. Her grandchildren were deeply loved, doted upon, and valued. They were gifted not only with quality time, but quantity of time with their grandmother. In her final years, she took on a new role of great grandmother. She treasured the privilege of visiting with her great grandchildren, who will walk with the imprint of her love in their hearts forever. Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Durtschi, parents Bill and Ruth, and sister, Wanda Allen. She is survived by her son Charles Durtschi and wife Pansy of Arlington, TX; grandson Glen Durtschi and wife Nikki of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Holly Biggs and husband Chris of Hurst, TX; nephew Benjamin Allen of Lake Tahoe, NV; two great grandchildren Beau and Ruby Biggs; cousin Bert V. Massey, II of Brownwood; and numerous Durtschi family nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Illinois, New York and Utah.
