Wayne Lee Moreland

Wayne Lee Moreland went home to his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2024, at his home in Brady, Texas. He was born to Troy and Thelma (Hamilton) Moreland on Mother's Day, May 11, 1947, in Ballinger, Texas. He attended Ballinger schools and helped his father as a butcher. After graduating from Ballinger High School on May 24, 1965, he attended San Angelo College where he studied accounting. During the Vietnam War, Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1972. After his service, he had several different jobs including one at an electrical supply store where he met the love of his life, Rickye Slaughter. They married on November 23, 1973, in Brady, Texas. Wayne worked as an electrician for over 30 years. His job required travel which took him to several states. In his travels he never met a stranger. He loved to tell and swap stories and hear about their journey. Wayne loved his family dearly, especially his grandkids. His favorite name by far was Pawpaw. Wayne spent his retirement years with his wife in Brady, Texas and enjoyed visits from his grandkids. Wayne proudly served his Country and was an honest, hardworking, and unpretentious man; always seeking God's approval over man's. He loved God and was a faithful servant throughout his life. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Troy and Thelma Moreland. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Rickye Moreland of Brady, son, Troy Moreland of Brady and his children McKenna and Landon, daughter Jayme (Brett) Rose of Abilene, Texas and their daughter Emily, sisters Shirley (Leo) Minzenmayer of Winters, Texas, Linda (Michael) Watson of Little Elm, Texas, and Peggy Moreland of Little Elm, Texas. As well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, April 12, 2024, at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in Brady. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 12, 2024, at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in Brady with Virgil Webb officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Pallbearers will be Leston Fields, Corey Dodds, Dalton Greenwood, Max Gordon, Eric Bierman, and Allen Greenwood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Troy Moreland, Brett Rose, Landon Moreland, Kevin Dodds, and Robert Slaughter. Funeral Arrangements are Entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Brady.
