Glenda Sue Verette

We are saddened to share that Sue Cummings Verette of San Saba, Texas peacefully passed on Wednesday, December 28th at the age of 74 years with her husband, Roger at her side. Sue Verette was born on January 8, 1948 in San Saba, Texas to John Glenn and Florence Lee Vaughn Cummings. Sue graduated from San Saba High School in 1966. She started working for Pud Watkins at Watkins Pharmacy and went on to work as a bank teller at San Saba National and City National Banks for over 30 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Roger; children: Kevin (Ludi) and Jason (Rebecca); grandchildren: Kelan (Morgan), Isabella, Noah, and great granddaughter Shepley; brothers, Ben Cummings, Darlis (JoAnn) Cummings; sister-in-law, Donna Cummings; many loving nieces and nephews as well as numerous relatives and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her friends at the Sharon Club, her Bunco group, First Baptist Church bible study and the Booster Club where she was an active member. She was predeceased by her brother (GC Cummings), and her parents: (John Glenn and Florence Lee Cummings). Sue was sweet as pie and tough as nails. She was known for her sweet tea and her desserts. She spoiled every child she ever met and was called by so many names such as Mom, Nana, Aunt Sue, Susie Q. She was always checking on people, making casseroles to drop off, and praying for others. She loved flowers and her yard; her house was a popular Halloween stop for homemade popcorn balls. She loved dressing in her extensive wardrobe to meet her guests at the bank window every day, knowing them all by their first name! Sue always maintained a deep faith in Our Lord, and we know that she is now reunited with family, serving tea, and pitching baseballs on paths paved with gold! Pallbearers are: Jim Hooten, Jeff Verette, Zane Cummings, BJ Verette, Brandon Verette, and Roger Stewardson Honorary Pallbearers: Christopher Cummings, Josh Verette, Tyler Verette, and Todd Stewardson Memorial Donations may be made in Sue's name to Alzheimer's Association, or Solaris Healthcare (hospice) in Llano, Texas. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the San Saba Rehabilitation & Nursing Home, the hospice nurses with Solaris, and Hill Country Home Care for their care and compassion. Roger sends a special thank you to everyone who visited Sue and him, prayed with them and for all the meals and gifts. "All things happen for the best for those who LOVE the Lord."
