Margaret Louise Powell

Margaret Louise Powell, 84, of Brady, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in her home. Visitation will be at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a Rosary the same night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral services will be at St. Patrick's Catholic church on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Margaret Louise Moonen was born on February 17, 1934 in Ballinger to Edward Moonen and Mary (Fowler) Moonen. She graduated from Ballinger High School and received a Bachelor's degree in education from North Texas State University . On May 4, 1956, she married, Voyne "Bo" Powell and together they had four children, Mike, Bob, Tanya and Steven. Margaret loved working with children and was an educator for a total of 33 years. In 1997 she received Educator of the Year from the Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Red Hats and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, walking and attending any of the numerous events that involved her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved hosting a huge family Christmas. Her greatest love and most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who, along with many others, affectionately called her Nannie Powell. She is survived by her three sons, Mike Powell and wife Leigh of Santa Anna, Bob Powell of Brady, and Steven Powell and wife Robbin of Joy; one daughter, Tanya Williams and husband Courtney of Brady. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, David Don Powell and wife Stephanie, Brett Powell, Randall Powell and wife Savannah, Jared Powell and wife Jenny, Tyler Williams and wife Mikkie, Quentin Powell, Reed Williams and wife Danielle, Dylan Powell, Taylor Powell, and Bandi Potter and husband Brandon; thirteen great-grandchildren, D.J., Brody and Cooper Powell, Maggie Powell, Audra and Finley Powell, Chloey and Colt Powell, Gracen and Charlea Williams, Emma, Ella , and Everly Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bo, and her two brothers, Ed and Bill Moonen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Brady Hope From the Heart. "We love you to the moon and back, Nannie!"
