Mamie Maud Behrens

Mamie Maud Behrens (Momma Bear), 90, of Brady, Texas, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, in Brady. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August, 23, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2012, at Liberty Baptist Church in Voca, Texas with burial at Voca Cemetery. Mamie was born on February 2, 1922, in Mason, Texas to Charles Otto Surber and Maud (Reeves) Surber. She married Walter Robert "Pete" Behrens on June 30, 1939, in Voca, Texas and spent her lifetime in Mason and McCulloch County. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Voca. Mamie and Pete moved their family to the Behrens home place in Voca in 1945. When Pete was fatally injured in an accident in 1959, Mamie and the children stayed in the house there. She was happy with her kids and grandkids and loved all her family the same. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. She loved working at Mac's BBQ and was there for 25 years. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, ranching and farming. Mamie was preceded in death by; her parents; husband; two brothers; Woody Surber and Fritz Surber; three sisters; Marie Eckert; Jewel Tatsch; Bertha Fay Nobles; two grandchildren; Raejean Behrens and Bray Behrens; and son-in-law; Jack Bergmann. Survivors include; two daughters; Maudelyne Bergmann of Mason; Sherron Kay Behrens of Mason; two sons; Jackie Behrens, and wife Jeanagayle, of Brady; Rodney Behrens, and wife Sherri, of Brady; one sister Viletha Cooper of Mason, nine grandchildren; Robin Bergmann, and wife Bridget, of Boerne; Jeff Bergmann of Boerne; Pennie McKenery, and husband Ozzie, of Leander; Rodda Dunham, and husband Taw Wayne, of Boerne; Scott Yates, and wife Amber, of Harper; Jason Behrens, and wife Karen, of Brady; Jean Behrens, and wife Loretta, of Brady; Rhett Behrens, and wife Danielle, of Brady; Paden Behrens, and wife McKenna, of Brady; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
