Ira Paul Jeffrey

Ira "Paul" Jeffrey, age 80, of San Antonio, Texas passed away, May 24, 2014 after a brief illness. Prior to moving to San Antonio, Paul was a resident of Seguin, Texas for 35 years. Services were held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas with Pastor Bob Odom of Lifegate Ministries officiating. Visitation was held at 12:00 at the funeral home. Paul was born on September 14, 1933 to Sam and Annie Jeffrey in Llano, Texas. He attended schools in Llano and San Saba, and graduated from San Saba High School in 1952. After high school Paul worked on the horse racing circuit, eventually returning to San Saba where he enlisted in the Army in 1953, serving in El Paso, Texas and various posts in Germany. Paul married Carol Sue Wilder in San Saba, Texas on January 7, 1956. They had three children. Paul and Carol were married for over 47 years until Carol's death on August 31, 2003. Paul married again on June 2, 2012 to Dolores Seelig Baker in San Antonio, Texas. Paul spent his life working in and around the cattle industries, and loved driving the open road hauling cattle across the country. Paul also spent many years working in the feedlot business. After retiring Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They would sit around and swap stories of their wild cow adventures. He also enjoyed yard work and bird watching, and spent many hours tending their many varieties of flowers in their yard. Paul was survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" Jeffrey, his three children; Marty Jeffrey and wife, Autumn of New Caney, Texas, John Jeffrey of Seguin, Texas, and Martha Thompson, and husband Wendy of Gonzales, Texas, step-daughter Debbie Cross, and husband Donnie of San Antonio, and step-daughter Tamsin Hudak of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jared Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Matthew Jeffrey, Joshua Jeffrey and Cheyenne Jeffrey, and great grandchildren Wyatt, Hunter and Leslie Jeffrey, and Aiden Barbour, his brother-in-law Bill Wilder, and wife Erny, of Georgetown, and his sister-in-law Vondene Wilder of San Saba, and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents Sam and Annie Jeffrey; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray & Kate Wilder; his brother JL Jeffrey and sister-in-law, Diane; his brothers-in-law Ray Wilder, Jr, Jack Wilder, and Joe Wilder; his sister-in-law, June Clark and her husband Dale, and sister-in-law, Sara Kate Thornton and her husband Jimmy. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jared and Jacob Thompson, Matthew and Joshua Jeffrey, nephews, Bill Wilder, Don Clark, Jimmy Wilder, and Ray Wilder, and step-son-in-law, Donnie Cross. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas for the exceptional care that they administered to Paul during his brief illness.
