Harold Owens

Harold Dean "Peanut" Owens passed away on June 27, 2024, in Brady, Texas, at the age of 83. Born on November 22, 1940, in Brady, Peanut was a lifelong resident and a cherished member of the community. Peanut graduated from Brady High School in May of 1959 and married Jean Ann Barnes on June 12th of that year. He worked for Beacon Supply company in Andrews, Texas, as well other oil field-based companies in Crane and Ft. Worth, Texas. He dedicated many years to working for the Dodds GULF distributing company, delivering fuel across Brady and McCulloch County. Later in his career, he joined forces with his son Curtis at Owens Electric, a local electrical company. After Jean Anns passing Peanut married Cherrie Henderson and were married for seventeen years. Peanut cherished Cherrie's children; Sheena Alford and husband Jean Jacques and Le Henderson. Peanut was a devout member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Known for his love of the outdoors, Peanut was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He spent countless hours on the greens of the Brady Municipal Golf Course and knew the best hunting spots in the area. His family and friends will remember him as a hardworking, good-natured man who cherished his family deeply. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean Ann Owens, his parents Henry and Ida Owens, brothers Benton Earl Owens and wife Barbara, Donald Ray Owens and wife Juanice, R.D. Owens and wife Graylene, and his twin sisters Barbara Ann and Betty Nan. Peanut is survived by his son Curtis Owens and wife Robin of Brady, Texas; daughter Drenda Owens of Leander, Texas; adopted daughter Deb Robinson of Leander, Texas; brother Troy Owens and the late Berta Owens of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Lance Owens and wife Shannon of Cedar Park, Texas, J.T. Owens of Brady, Texas and Michelle Owens of Brady, Texas; and great-grandsons Lucas and Beau Owens; Daughter Sheena Alford and husband Jean Jacques of Katy, Texas; Son Le Henderson of Voca, Texas; Grand-daughter Andrea Schwarzbach and husband Steve of Las Vegas, Nevada; Grand-daughter Megan Lowrance and husband James of Katy, Texas; and Great-grandchildren Tripp, Jacqui, Elliot, and Miller. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady with Virgil Webb of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews; Barry Owens, Johnny Peacock, Mark Owens, Keith Owens, Bobby Liverman, Todd Liverman, Le Henderson, and Jean Jacques Alford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Swede Carlson, Corey Dodds, Kevin Dodds, his beloved golfing family; Eddie Sayles, Barry Jackson, David Graves, Abel Muniz, Marcus Solis, Felix "Gato" Ramirez, Wayne Mataska, Raymond Rubio, Jay May, Richard Journeay, Dewey Young, Billy Ross Cavin and countless others. We are beyond thankful to the staff at Brady West Nursing and Rehab for the many loving years of care to Peanut. He loved y'all very much. A special thanks to Darci Whisenhunt and the local team at Hospice of San Angelo, the wonderful folks of team yellow are truly amazing. We especially thank his dear friends Penny Williams and Ronee Spence for the outstanding love. Peanut's life and legacy will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him.
