Dorothy Clements

Dorothy Mae Schroeder-Clements passed away peacefully at home on Friday August 11, 2023, in Georgetown at the age of 91. She was born on January 16, 1932, to Emil and Otillie Schroeder Jr., in Arneckeviile, Texas. She graduated from Cuero High School in 1950. Through the years, besides being a loving mother and homemaker, she held an array of jobs, from being a telephone operator, a school bus driver when needed, an administrative secretary in Yorktown, Texas and also President of the Yorktown Hospital Guild, always involved in church and Sunday School classes. She also worked at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi, she sold singer sewing machines in downtown Austin, she was a school secretary at North Ward Elementary in Brady for many years until she retired in 2010. She was also known as the "Cake Lady" in Yorktown and Brady making wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and all occasions cakes. She had so many skills, she sewed matching dresses for her daughters at Easter, matching P.J. gowns at Christmas, even a few prom dresses, wedding gowns, and bridesmaid's dresses. Dorothy loved holidays, especially Christmas, whether it was baking cut out cookies, matching P.J.'s, or giving each daughter a doll. She always made it magical. Dorothy is preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy Rance Clements Jr., her parents, brother Lee Schroeder, his wife Irma, a sister-in-law Gayle Schroeder, and infant son Sheldon Mark Kuester, two stepdaughters, Taffy Stapleton and Alicia Hannan, and a grandson Seth Hannan. Dorothy is survived by her children, Debbie Love of Georgetown, Cindy McJunkin of Kyle, Judy Kern of Round Rock, Kim Uresti (Ronnie), of Cuero, Lisa Griffin (Allen) of Georgetown, Suzanne Mikulenka of San Antonio, Roy Clements III (Nadia) of Dallas, a grandson she raised, Shaw Wagner of Austin, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one sister, Nelda Boerm of Alice, brother, Emil Schroeder of Taft, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday August 18, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 19, 2023, at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with Virgil Webb, officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Pallbearers will be Allen Griffin, Chance Love, Lawrence Horan, Shaw Wagner, Jarret Williams and Steve Schroeder. Honorary Pallbearer is Emil Schroeder.
