Doris Nell Crisp

Doris Nell Crisp, 83, went to be with her heavenly Father on August 23, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her children and family members. Services will be Monday August 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Menard Cowboy Church, interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Doris was born November 12, 1933 in Hamilton, Texas to Thomas and Gladys Lee. She married the love of her life Mathis Eugene Crisp March 11, 1953, they celebrated 64 years together. She and Gene worked on ranches in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, but her home was always Texas. She was active in the Jim Bowie Trail Ride for 35 years. She was also very active in the American Legion. Doris loved to quilt and many of her quilts were donated for charitable functions, she loved to help others. She was also the family genealogist, for years she researched family history and kept records for future generations. Doris was a talented woman, she enjoyed painting and crafting, and her recipes have been memorialized in a family cook book. One of her greatest passions was playing bingo on Tuesdays and Thursday nights, it wasn't just a game to her, it was a social event that she enjoyed immensely. Survivors include her husband Gene Crisp, 1 son Robin Crisp and wife Christy of Richland Springs, Texas, 1 daughter Jackie Crisp Daves of Menard, daughter-in-law Lynn Crisp of Carlsbad, Texas, 1 sister Lovie Humphries of Dublin, Texas, 1 brother Billy Lee of Weatherford, Texas, 1 foster daughter Beverly Moses and husband Bob of DeRidder, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren; William Crisp and wife Laura, Tillitha Petalcu and husband Brian, Emmitt Crisp and wife Kara, Misty Crisp and fiancé Nathan Walker, Debra Lewis, Angelique Hultgren and husband Scott, and Seth Crisp and girlfriend Kendall; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many more that she loved as her children, also numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her mom Gladys Caldwell, 1 brother Jimmy Lee, 1 sister Janie Adams, 2 sons; Jay and Tommy Crisp, 2 grandsons, and 1 son-in-law Pat Daves. Family request donations to be made to the American Legion in lieu of flowers
