Dionitia Lyckman

Dionitia Rambo Lyckman passed to the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Menard, Texas. A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Menard on Friday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Dionitia was born Dionitia Marie Grundmann Rambo on September 25, 1929, to Charlotte (Volkmann) and Claude Dewey Rambo at the home of her grandparents, Menard ranching pioneers Dietrich F. and Anna Wilhelm Volkmann. â€œDeeâ€ was baptized and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church and was a loving Mother, Nana, Auntie and friend to all. She spent her childhood with many special family members, including her grandparents and cousins LaVerne, Carolyn and Janelle (Volkmann), Walter (Butch) and Gretchen (Noelke) and Peggy (Rambo). Dionitia attended school in San Angelo and then later in Menard where she graduated in 1947. Following high school, she studied classical piano at John Tarleton College. While working as a secretary at Curtis Field in Brady, Texas, she met Otis Lyckman. On July 24, 1953, they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eden, Texas. They farmed and ranched together for 60 years in Menard County. Dionitia was a talented pianist and had a passion for traveling all over the world. She never met a stranger and truly enjoyed interacting with everyone she encountered. She will be fondly remembered by her husband, Otis; daughter, Dreu and son-in-law Jerry Bearden; son, Monte and daughter-in-law Susie Lyckman; brother, Jerry Rambo; and grandchildren, Chel and husband Mark Terrell, and Laci and Taylor Lyckman. She has one special great-grandson, Hudson Beck Terrell, with whom she spent many hours, and dear nieces and nephews, including Mann (Lori), Cary (Amy), Tenzy, Dietrich, Dewey, Zach and Riley Rambo. One of her many passions was tennis, and she enjoyed watching her daughter, grandchildren and special great-nephews all win state championships. Known as Nana, she followed and supported all her grandchildren and their friends in school activities and was their number one cheerleader. A devoted Christian, Nana, Dee, Mother, Auntie was an example of love and kindness. The family extends their gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, especially Jennifer Valdez and Tiffani Rosas. Pallbearers are Mann, Cary, Zach and Riley Rambo, Benny and Stanley Kothmann, Novice Kniffen, March Compton and Jay Cunningham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center or Grace Lutheran Church of Menard.
