Deborah Lynn Gotcher

Deborah Lynn Gotcher, age 71, longtime resident of Brownwood, TX surrounded by loved ones at her home in Great Cacapon, WV, passed from this world on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. It takes a skillful artist to paint our lives. Our creator often commissions more artists to paint the colors of the sky, sunset, ocean, spring flowers and all of the details that make up this earthly world. On March 29, 2023, he called another artist home. Debbie’s artistic eye and skilled hands will now be used to add color to our world. With a quick swipe of our creator’s brush Debbie left her earthly home and joined friends and family that have gone before her. Debbie was an artist who worked hard and took pride in all that she did. She was very passionate about family, friends and loved ones and was always quick to lend a hand or offer guidance. Debbie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandma and great grandma. She worked as a dietician, florist and loved sharing her works of art. Debbie served in the United States Army from February 17, 1987 until her honorable discharge on August 9, 1990 at the rank of a Specialist, where she was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge with M16 Rifle Bar and Driver and Mechanic Badge. Born March 24, 1952 in Brownwood, TX, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Durwood and Juanita Ray Elliott Gotcher. Debbie is survived by her husband, Michael F. Stanger, her daughter, Shae Ferguson Nelson and her husband Bryan, of Damascus, MD, her son, Chad Ferguson and his partner, Raudel Caldera, of Chicago, IL, brother, Darrell Bullard and his wife Kathy, sister, Glenda Gotcher Traweek and her husband Larry, brother Tony Elliott and wife Kathi five grandchildren, Alex Nelson and his wife Allison, Caitlyn Day and her wife Sam, Jack Nelson, Bailey Ferguson, Brandon Ferguson and his fiancé Alyssa, and three great grandchildren, Charlotte Nelson, Macklan Nelson and soon to arrive Baby Day, nieces and nephews, Tim Bullard, Shawnee Traweek, Kyle Traweek and his wife Kathleen, Christie Stanger, and numerous other family, extended family and friends. Memorial services are under the Direction of Heritage Funeral Home Davis Morris Chapel, 800 Central Avenue in Brownwood, TX 76801. Service will be Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11am.
