Arcenio S. Martinez

Arcenio S. Martinez, Sr. of Brady, TX passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 in Ft. Worth, TX at the age of 81. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, TX, with burial to follow in the Lohn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 P.M. with a Wake from 7:00-8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Arcenio was born on August 22, 1933 in Cibolo, TX to Herberto and Marcelina (Soto) Martinez. He married the love of his life, Juanita Gomez, in Sequin, TX, on May 10, 1953. They had been happily married for 53 wonderful years at the time of her passing in 2006. Arcenio was a proud Soldier in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged in 1956. He and Juanita moved to Brady in 1981, where he worked many years for Young's Service Station. Arcenio had a passion for gardening and being outdoors. Family always came first in his life. He was lovingly known by his grandchildren as "Wello", he was also known by many friends as "Chano". Arcenio was a man of strong faith and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Mission in Brady. His caring spirit, loving heart, and contagious smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Arcenio was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Gomez) Martinez; parents, Herberto and Marcelina Martinez; two sons, David Martinez, and an infant son; one daughter, Amelia Gomez, and several siblings. Survivors include; eleven daughters, Maria Martinez and husband Ray of Brady, TX, Maggie Reyna and husband Gilbert of Lockney, TX, Toni Garcia of Floydada, TX, Gloria Arnold and husband Frank of Ft. Worth, TX, Diane Vasquez and husband Armando of Lockney, TX, Sulema Enriquez and husband Simon of Brownwood, TX, Estella Cooper and husband Robert of DeQueen, AR, Rose Mary Garcia and husband Ricky of Abbeville, LA, Dolores Huerta and husband Baldomar, of Brownwood, TX, Beatrice Mancha and husband Jose of San Angelo, TX, and Kathie Juarez of Brady, TX; three sons, Juan Medrano wife Debbie of San Antonio, TX, Arcenio Martinez, Jr. and wife Juanita of Lubbock, TX , and Jesse Martinez and wife Mikki of Brady, TX; one sister, Beth Maldonado and husband Oscar of San Antonio, TX; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
