Alvin Lee Pitcox

Alvin Lee Pitcox, Sr., 65, of Brady, went to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in San Angelo, following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 12 1951, in Brady, to Henry Stevens and Dora Mae (Corner) Pitcox. He was a lifelong resident of Brady and married the love of his life, Cecilia Jane Harper, on Oct. 24, 1969, in Brady. Alvin was co-owner of Pitcox Construction for a number of years but spent most of his career as a truck driver. He traveled millions of miles accident free and was known as the "Bounty Hunter" to his brothers of the highway. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and fishing, and he was widely known for his barbecue skills. He had a cowboy's heart of gold and loved to entertain family and friends during get-togethers centered around laughter, love and storytelling. Whether he told the story once or a thousand times, he had a remarkable ability to captivate an audience. He adored his wife and affectionately called her "Baby Cakes," He loved spending time with his family and friends, but most of all, his grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He will be deeply missed by many but never forgotten. Alvin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cecilia Jane, of Brady; a son, Alvin Lee Pitcox, Jr. of Brady; two daughters, Jennifer Leeann Bingham and Amanda Jane Howell and husband, Tommy, of Rochelle; six grandchildren, Ashley Dunn and husband, Daniel, of San Angelo, Mason, Merek and Maddox Howell, of Rochelle, Drake Anthony and Milly Kate Pitcox, of Brady; and two great-grandchildren, Swayze and Lennon Dunn of San Angelo. He is also survived by three sisters, Wynell Mitchell and husband, Jim, Linda Mooring and Juanita Hinds and husband, Robert, all of Brady; two brothers, Junior Pitcox and wife, Sharon, and Tommy Pitcox and wife, Lue, all of Brady; a special brother-in-law, Richard White and wife, Carla, of Brady; two sister-in-laws, Beth Pitcox of Brady and Gena Braziel and husband, Joe, of Arlington and four brother-in-laws, Danny Harper and wife, Glenda, Shawn Harper and wife, Judy, and Joe Wills, all of Brady, and Curtis Metcalf of Teague; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was precede in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Metcalf; two brothers, Donny and Robert (Bob) Pitcox; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Harper and Joyce Wills; and a brother-in-law, Jackie Harper. Visitation will be held Friday evening, April 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home followed by funeral service on Saturday, April 8, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gaylon Morris officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard White, Robbie Turk, Tom Hail, Cecil Lambertino, Jon Paul Williams, Heath Evans, Robert Riggs and Billie Roddie.
