Alberto Rodriquez, Sr.

Alberto Rodriquez, 75, of Brady, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Alberto graduated from Melvin High School and afterward proudly served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam war. He received the honorable award of the Purple Heart, having been wounded by enemy action while in the line of duty. Upon his return home and recovery, he married Irma Castañuela of Melvin, Texas, and raised a family. Alberto and Irma were married for 53 years. Alberto was an exceptional musician who played guitar, bajo sexto, accordion, and other instruments. His gift and passion for music touched countless people's lives. Though he was a fan of all genres of music, his greatest love was serving alongside Irma in the Saint Patrick's Catholic Spanish choir, faithfully serving his church community for over four decades. His loving spirit, generosity and caring nature was a beacon of light to family, friends, and many he came in contact with. Though a failing heart took him to his heavenly home, his loving heart leaves behind an impact and legacy for generations to come. Alberto was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham & Juanita Rodriguez, three sisters, Leonor Patena, Juanita Windes, Nellie Balderas, two brothers, Honofre Rodriguez, Gilberto Rodriguez, daughter, Yvonne Rodriquez, grandson, Christopher Michael Rodriquez, great-granddaughter, Novella Marie Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Irma Rodriquez, two sons, Albert Rodriquez and wife, Victoria Rodriquez, Abel Rodriquez, four grandsons, Sterling Scott Cowan, Albert Bo Lee Cowan, Julian Michael Rodriquez, Jonathan David Rodriquez, four granddaughters, Bridget Raquel Mazurek and husband Kameron Mazurek, Victoria Elizabeth Rodriquez, Angel Marie Rodriguez, Destiny Faith McBee, brother, Abraham Rodriguez, Jr., three sisters, Vera Gonzales, Belia Peña, Linda Jacoby, and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation and Rosary will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Mass service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Terry Brenon, officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sterling Scott Cowan, Albert Bo Lee Cowan, Julian Michael Rodriquez, Jonathan David Rodriquez, Kameron Mazurek, and Javier Paniagua.
