“What’s up, guys?! Mattie here, back with another video”, the introduction and beginning of the mark he left in this world. Matthew, a young influencer, decided to venture beyond the nest at 18 years old, flying from Hawaii to Los Angeles, CA, to pursue an ambitious dream in videography, photography, fashion, crafting, and of course, YouTube-ing. Matthew Juan Mantanona Perez of Tamuning, Guam, blessed the world on October 19, 1999, was taken from us and gained his angel wings on October 25, 2022. Matthew, also known as Matt, best known as Mattie Ice, came into this world a blessing and cared immensely for every soul he encountered. Matthew, the Son of Thomas and Diana Perez. The brother of Eddie, Tomaine, Alysha, Jose, and Thomas Jr., The Godfather and Uncle of JaCory, Alyias, Jose Jr., Jacob, Jayce, Landen, Hope, and Ava-Rose. The grandson of Eddie and Remedios Perez, Julie Mantanona, and Jose LG Ignacio. He also has many Godparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved deeply. Matthew is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Perez Jr., his papa Eddie Perez, his cousin Tristan Kemp, and grandfather Jose LG Ignacio. Matthew’s enthusiasm to share with the world how he viewed the simplistic beauty of life was through the lens of his camera. His explorations took us on an infinite journey, navigating his way through time. With every experience, it portrayed daring adventures, endless travels, contagious laughs, soothing calmness, unconditional love, and valuable time he cherished with family and friends. When he created content for his videos, he did that for you. When he was in his essential element, Matthew made you laugh or embraced the true significance and definition of family and love. He did that for himself. His true passion was to encourage others, embrace differences, inspire dreams, and uplift souls to help pave the way for all to succeed, make this world a peaceful place, and ensure you feel like you always belonged. Every snapshot, every minute of film time, and every second behind the scenes was a story he created. His story signified how “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it, and once you’ve lost it, you can never get it back.” By definition, through this, he created his authentic brand, Pointless. The memory Matthew left in our hearts and deep within our souls was his unwavering ambition to put a smile on our faces. Whether it was from goofing around, telling a joke, being silly, or simply his charismatic, funky personality. The reason why he made you smile or laugh wasn’t always intentional or on purpose because he did it often, naturally, and effortlessly. It was the feeling that he created for you to have that gave him value and perseverance. Matthew flourished by reminding you to always “Stay honest and true to yourself” and “Don’t let no one dim your light. Keep pushing.” Arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Lampasas.
