Louis J Leech

On Monday, October 23,2023, our father heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant". Our family was blessed beyond measure to have him for 91 years plus (May 23,1932-October 23,2023). Born and raised in Cisco, the phrase "Big Dam Lobos" always brought a huge smile to his face. After graduation in 1949, Dad attended Cisco Jr. College and North Texas University where he graduated with a business degree in 1953. In December that year, he was accepted into the Marine Corp officer training school in Quantico, Virginia. Dad went to work for Standard Oil of Indiana in Odessa in 1955. He remained with the company that today is now Amoco Oil Production Company until his retirement in 1994. In Odessa, Dad met the love of his life, a schoolteacher (Scottie Vaughan Leech) at a Sunday night church service. They were married for 66 wonderful years. Amoco took them to Farmington, NM, Denver, Co, and Houston, Tx during his 39-year career. In 1966 he was transferred to Brownfield where Dad served his church and community well until 1988. He taught Sunday School, Royal Ambassador's, and he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. Dad started the Little Dribblers Basketball program in Brownfield in1970. This league serves the youth of the community still today. He had a reputation in town as an excellent youth All-Star baseball coach at each level. Dad was an active member of the Optimist Club where he was recruited to manage the Babe Ruth League for the club for close to ten years. He was an active member of each church that he and Scottie attended, and he served as a deacon at Immanuel Baptist in Farmington, First Baptist in Brownfield, and Coggin Avenue Baptist in Brownwood. He loved his entire family unconditionally and showed them Jesus every step of the way. Dad would switch when you asked him his favorite bible verse, but his favorite hymn always without a doubt was "Love Lifted Me." To honor Louis Jack Leech's memory, we are having a graveside service Saturday, October 28th in Goldthwaite at the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. We are holding a Celebration of Life service (Officiant, Brother Jerry Joplin) at 2:00 p.m. in Brownwood at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his abundantly lived life. Jack is survived by his wife Scottie Vaughan Leech, sons Stan Leech (Carla), Brad Leech (Leslie), Grandchildren Courtney Wells (Casey), Coby Leech, Jordan Patman (Lyle), Kayce Ruffner (Murray) and Great grandchildren Jack Wells, Elle Patman and Peri Patman.
