Earl Ray Sutton

Earl Ray "Bear" Sutton, 84, of San Saba, passed away peacefully in Brownwood on October 18, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1939, in San Saba to Anderson Theodore "Buster" Sutton and Emaline Martha Blackwood Sutton. Earl Ray "Bear" Sutton retired from the City of Copperas Cove after serving 24 years and 7 months as Landfill Supervisor. After retirement he moved to Bend with his wife where he continued his passions of hunting and fishing. He became a member of the Mount Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 595 in Copperas Cove, and was Past Master from 1987 to 1988. After moving to San Saba, he joined the San Saba Masonic Lodge No. 784 where he was Past Master for two years. He was a Masonic member for over 60 years. He was a proud member and Deacon of the Parkview Baptist Church, the Church of the Open Door, and the High Valley Baptist Church. He was proud to share the gospel, and share his story of how God saved him. He lived life to the fullest, never allowing a dull moment to occur. He will be missed by all, but remembered by his loving heart, jokes, and his love for God. He is preceded in death by his parents: Anderson Theodore "Buster" Sutton and Emaline Martha Blackwood Sutton; his wife: Charlene Ridings Sutton; his 3 brothers: David Sutton, GB Sutton, Richard Sutton; his 6 sisters: Leola Collins, Minnie Catherine Litton, Lily Bell Woodward, Ella Pearl Alcorn, Maire Sutton, Opal Jewel Collins. He is survived by his son Keith White and wife, Lisa White of Kingsland, daughter Melisa Sutton Martinez and husband Ramiro Martinez of San Saba, grandchildren: Dayton McClendon and wife Jessica, Kim and husband Adrian Valdez, Jerry Williams, Keith Williams, Mia Williams and Joel Moore, Shyann Martinez and Angelo Belmonte, great-grandchildren, Shelby, Valyn, Gracie, Parker, Willow; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two dogs Bobo and Buddy; all whom he loved dearly and wholeheartedly. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday October 27, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba with Brother Michael Taylor of High Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Collins, CB Sutton, Scotty Woodward, Devon Hoyt, Buddy Harlin, Larry Sutton, Justin Collins, and BJ Raines. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Sutton, Bill Roy Jr., and Otis Sutton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba.
