Caryland Mayo

Caryland Mayo, age 76, passed from this life on Monday, December 20, 2021 surrounded by her family. Caryland was born on December 31, 1944 in Brady, Texas to Wesley Clay and Mattie Mary Ann (Ferguson) Willams. She lived in McCulloch County her entire life. Caryland was a hard worker, and she was devoted to and loved being a nurse for over 50 years. She worked at the hospital, first as a Surgical Nurse and then as a Hall Nurse. She then went to work at Sheffield Nursing Home, now known as Brady West. She also loved teaching CNA classes. Caryland also liked to have fun and laugh, and she especially enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, which she wanted everyone to be quiet during so that she could devote her attention to watching. She loved gardening and playing BINGO. Above all else, Caryland loved her family, and spending time with them and her grandkids and great-grandkids gave her so much joy. Caryland was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Johnny Smith, second husband Dorman Mayo, sister Mary Simpson, two brothers Red Williams and Paul Glenn Williams. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four daughters Johnetta Jordan, Lisa Solis and husband Joe, and Tina Moore and husband Alan, all of Brady, and Andy Ritter and partner Kevin of Waco; one brother Melvin Williams of New Caney; eleven grandchildren Philip Jordan, Deanna Pacheco, Cayce Raybion, Amanda Woodall, John Moore, Christopher Smith, Aron Smith, Cory Airheart, Krista Villarreal, Brandon Airheart and Kevin Airheart; thirty great-grandchildren; and numerous special nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Darci, Keyla, Chris and Julie for their loving and devoted care they provided for Caryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of San Angelo. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.
