Betty L. Waite

Betty Louise (Tally) Waite, 67, of Brady, TX passed from this heavenly earth on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in San Antonio surrounded by her loved ones. Betty was born on July 16, 1947 to Chester W. and Dorothy (Sheppard) Tally in Brady, TX. She married the love of her life, Edward E. "Eddie" Waite on October 18, 1965 in Brady. Together they were blessed with three children; Darren, Tammy and John. Betty spent numerous years caring for others through her career in the healthcare field. She began working as an LVN at the old Brady Hospital, she left nursing for about 13 years while she worked at Brady National Bank, during this time she also worked part time for Brady's ambulance service. Betty initially received her EMT certification, and continued training until she received her EMT- Intermediate certification and then received her Paramedic license and ultimately became the EMS Director for the City of Brady. Betty was one of the first Paramedics to work on the Air Med 1 Helicopter service at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. She continued her education and became a Registered Nurse, working for Shannon Medical Center for approximately 3 years. During the last several years of her nursing career Betty worked as the RN Assistant Administrator for Medway Home Healthcare. Away from work, Betty enjoyed attending all the activities of her grandchildren, some travel, and trying to place family names in their proper place through her extensive genealogy research. Betty was strong in her faith and was a member of Christian Community Church, where she played the piano. Family was always first and foremost in her life, and she cherished each and every moment that she spent with them. Betty was lovingly known as "Meemaw" by her grandchildren, whom spent many weekends with her and Peepaw, working on crafts, watching family movies, and looking through numerous picture albums. Betty's smile, laugh, and caring heart will be greatly missed by who had the honor to know and love her. She is preceded in death by; her father, Chester W. Tally; and brother in law, Cecil W. Pitcox. Survivors include: her husband, Eddie Waite of Brady; two sons, Darren Waite and Shelly McBee of Brady, and John Waite of Mason; one daughter, Tammy Hemphill and husband Doug of Lohn; her mother, Dorothy Tally of Brady; nine grandchildren, Paige, Abbey and MaKenna Waite of Brady, Courtney and Kristen Hemphill of Lohn, Brayden and Jatelyn Waite of Mason and Kelsey and Kaley McBee of Brady; two brothers, Dale Tally and wife Sherri of Brady, and Carl Tally and wife Janice, of Brady; one sister, Evelyn Pitcox of Brady; five sister in laws, Virginia Nickel and husband Nick of Jarrell, Jeanette Holiday and husband Roy of Jarrell, Lucy Bierman and husband Joe of Comfort, Betty Hill of Lohn, and Betty Jo Grulkey of Oklahoma, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family request memorial donations be made in Betty's name to Hope from the Heart or the American Cancer Society.
