Arkley T Bell

Arkley Tabor Bell was born on October 18, 1952 in Quanah, Texas. He passed away exactly 64 years later on October 18, 2016 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Arkley Luther Bell, his mother, Emily Tabor Bell two sisters, Jo Kendall French and Lauralee Hall, a niece, Emmy French, and a son, Richard Reece Bell. Arkley Tabor Bell married Celia Seiders on April 10, 1982 in Austin, Texas. Their coaching and teaching careers led them to Henrietta, Chillicothe, and Eden until they settled in San Saba where they have made their home for the last 28 years. Bud graduated from Chillicothe High School and went on to receive his B.S. from East Texas State University in Commerce. At Commerce he pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity. Later he received his masters degree in administration from Tarleton State. Bud made a career of teaching history, coaching and as an elementary school principal. He was happiest coaching football or at the ranch taking care of cattle or on the tractor. Bud was raised in Chillicothe, Texas. His close extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends provided a never ending stream of stories and happiness for Bud his entire life. Bud was one of a kind. Those who knew him soon learned that under his gruff outside was a sweet and loving man who was an avid reader and movie watcher especially of anything having to do with World War II. He loved the poetry of Robert Service and could recite many of them by heart. Arkley was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, but he also loved attending services at the New Hope Presbyterian Church in the Sloan Community. Arkley is survived by his wife, Celia, one son, Jantzen Tabor Bell and many close family members including his brother-in-law, Butch Hall of Chillicothe, sister-in-laws Mary Savage and her husband Jim of Austin and Louise Tate and her husband Chris of Highland Haven. His surviving nieces and nephews are Sean and Anissa Hall of Frisco and their son Tristan, Mark Hall of Chillicothe and his children Ethan and Emmy, Brandon Tate of Austin and Rachel Savage of Austin. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to: First United Methodist Church San Saba, Texas, New Hope Presbyterian Church San Saba or the charity of choice.
