Leslie Taff Rankin, age 98, passed away on November 1, 2021. Leslie was born November 21, 1922, in San Saba, Texas on the Colorado River land settled by two of his great grandparents after the Civil War. He grew up farming and ranching, graduated from San Saba High School in 1939. After two years at Tarleton College, he joined the WW Two Army Air Corps and became a Radar Mechanic and served in the Southwest Pacific Theater, including the Phillipines, Japan, and Korea. After the war ended Leslie returned to San Saba in 1946 to farm and ranch. He met and married his beloved wife Mildred Moore in 1949, a marriage which lasted 69 years. In 1952 the family moved to Fort Worth where he worked in the aircraft industry for over 35 years, 30 of them at General Dynamics (now Lockheed). He was a charter member of Western Hills United Methodist Church since 1959. Always a great believer in do it yourself, he would enjoy working through any project. Since 1992, gardening was a main interest and occupation at the family home in rural Parker County. Survivors include son Charles and his wife Elicia, Granddaughter’s Gayla Rankin and Angela Rankin Allensworth and husband Cody Allensworth, great grandchildren Colby and Ava Allensworth. Also, nieces Patsy Dawson and Peggy Smith. Arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas.
