Jimmie Nell Kemp

There will be a celebration of life service held for Jimmie Nell Kemp, 75, of Brady, Texas, on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Mercury Baptist Church, Mercury, Texas. Jimmie Nell Kemp passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was born in the family home in Briscoe County, Texas to Marvin and Marguerite Reynolds and was raised in Silverton, Texas. Jimmie married Billy Ray Ford in May 1964 and in the fall of 1974 they moved and made their home in Brownfield, Texas. Billy Ray and Jimmie were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. They also spent many years as members of Communication Workers of America. Jimmie worked for GTE and Harold Bishop Insurance for several years Billy Ray passed away in January 1991 and Jimmie went to “boot camp” for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and became a correctional officer, making her home in Colorado City, Texas. Jimmie met Rick Kemp in the fall of 1997 and they were married at their home on the lake in January 1998. In the fall of 2001 Rick and Jimmie moved to Jarrell, Texas and founded their own low-voltage instillation company and spent the next several years traveling across the state of Texas providing services to new home owners. In 2008 Rick and Jimmie moved to Rochelle, Texas on a small ranch to retire, where they have been members of the Mercury Baptist Church since. Rick and Jimmie spent years collecting and making donations to the Cherokee Home for Children and spent countless hours cooking for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jimmie was well known for her kindness and cooking skills and could whoop up something to eat for anyone in their time of need. Jimmie also made several culinary donations to the local fire departments for their fundraisers. Jimmie was blessed with three daughters, Bunnie Palomino of Belton, Texas; Nancy Denee Ford of San Antonio Texas, Katie Quinney and husband Travis of La Vernia, Texas. Jimmie was also Auntie Mom to her niece, Terry Robison and husband Steve of Hereford, Texas. Upon marrying Rick, Jimmie added Christopher Kemp and wife Rebecca of Wall, Texas; Brandon Kemp of Snyder, Texas and Keri Edwards and husband Jim of San Angelo, Texas to her family. Jimmie was full of love and it was evident through her affection for her grandchildren, Taylor, Matthew and wife Krista, Victoria, Logan, Trent, Edward, Joel, Kalyn, Luke, Pate, Jimmy, Lexi and Alexis. She also loved her great-grands Izik, Jaxon, Ava and Izabella. Jimmie is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Rick Kemp of Brady, Texas; her children, grandchildren and great-grands; sister Dianne Bailey and husband Jim of Tishomingo, OK.; mother-in-law, Mary “Mom” Hooten of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law Mike Kemp and wife Barbara of College Station, Texas; sister-in-Law Londa Cooper and husband Richard of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law Louise “Cookie” Reynolds of Highlands, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmie was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Billy Ray Ford; her parents, Marvin and Marguerite Reynolds; a sister Jo Hamilton, brothers Bill Reynolds and Jerry Reynolds and great nephews Clint Robison and Trip Robison all of whom she loved immensely. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family would like donations to be made in memory of Jimmie Nell Kemp to the Cherokee Home for Children, an organization that meant so much to Jimmie.
