Imogene Thomas

May 13, 1929 - May 15, 2022

Imogene Thomas, beloved daughter of Alva Ellison Thomas and Joe Harvey Thomas, Jr., went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Imogene was born on May 13, 1929 in Fredonia, Texas. She came from several generations of cattleman and continued to raise cows until the end. She was a wonderful cook. Her cheese dip, peach cobbler, pinto beans, squash relish, pink salad, and forgotten steak were some of her family's favorites. Imogene was an excellent seamstress and made shirts and dresses for her children. She would look at an outfit and cut her own pattern to replicate it. She loved to travel and took many trips out of state. Some of her favorite places were the Grand Ole Opry, Elvis Mansion, Plantation homes and Loretta Lynn's home. Imogene was a faithful servant of God and attended Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Imogene loved her family and friends and looked forward to hunting season and holidays. She was a hard worker and was a fraud investigator for the phone company for many years, which she really enjoyed doing. She also loved God's flower garden and often cherished rides in the country to see the Bluebonnets, Indian Paint Brush and Sunflowers. Imogene was preceded in death by her brother's Carlos and Leonard, sister Mary Helen, and great-grandson Joshua Wayne Flanagin. Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons Michael W. Flanagin and wife Rhonda of Huntsville, Texas, and Thomas D. Flanagin of Brady, Texas; daughter Janice Beth Lewis and husband Royce of Brady, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady with Virgil Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Wagram Cemetery.
