Eileen Chumbley, 102, of Brady, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Brady. She was born in O’Neill, Nebraska to William and Iva (Gatewood) De May on June 23, 1918, but moved to McCook, Nebraska when she was a baby. Her first marriage was to Robert A. Barr and they had one child, William Barr. She married Horace ‘Hal’ Chumbley on March 1, 1972. She graduated from McCook High School. The family then moved to Denver, Colorado where Eileen attended Denver University and later Rocky Mountain School of Art. She worked in the Denver offices of the Walgreens Drug Company for twenty-three years. She worked for Continental Airlines, she did the electrical wiring on the B-17 and B29 Bombers. Eileen was a family person. She loved animals four paws and a tail that wags, and she was in love with them, good art, a picture well done is beautiful, and of course her Denver Broncos. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Horace ‘Hal’ Chumbley, two sisters, Frances De May Learred, Mary De May Galligan, son William Francis Barr, stepson, Mike Chumbley. Eileen is survived by her five grandchildren Kerri Boykin and husband Chad, Jaime Taliaferro and wife Kayla, Chad Taliaferro, Tamara Garza and husband M.L., and Sherri Howard and husband Vernon, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and Mike Galligan, Dan Galligan, Kathy Green, and Janice Leeney all nieces and nephews. Rosary will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady. Church service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Father Terry Brenon, officiating. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery in Brady. Pallbearers will be Granite Shoals Police Department, Gary Boshears, Chris Decker, John Ortis, Shane Mahoney, Kirk Jowers, and Rey Salinas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Brady.
