Dorothy Bell Kite

March 30, 1935 - April 5, 2022

Dorothy Bell Kite, age 87, of Brownwood, passed from this life on April 5, 2022 at the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple. She was born March 30, 1935, in Brownwood, the daughter of Dewitt and Claudia Lavada (Johnson) Welch. She graduated from Brownwood High School and later attended classes at Howard Payne College. She worked in the construction industry for many years along with other jobs in her life. She was a lifetime resident of Brownwood and a Baptist. She was an accomplished artist and love to paint. She had worked for the census bureau collecting data. She loved children and animals and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her son, Randy Kite of Brownwood, Her daughter, Krystal Kite Cooley of Brownwood, her grandchildren, Amber Kite Moore and husband Roger, John Cooley and wife Kacy, Lisa Michelle Yarbrough and husband Chris, and Wesley Kite. Her great-grandchildren include Johnathan Kite Moore, Christopher Kite Moore, Conner Cooley, Madison Cooley, Andre' Kite, and Jaron Briscoe. She is also survived by a sister, Lessie Briggs and a brother Carrol Welch and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bill" Kite, a son, Larry David Kite, siblings, Dewitt Hilmer Welch, Norvel Welch, William Jerry Welch, Ann Elizabeth Rhoades, Helen Welch, and Baby Sister Welch. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, April 12, in the Davis-Morris Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home of Brownwood with burial to follow in the Ebony Cemetery in Mills County. Services have been entrusted to the care of Heritage Funeral Home Davis-Morris Chapel. Friends and family are encouraged to view the online memorial at www.heritagefuneraltx.com.
