Clement Arthur Rochat

Clement Arthur Rochat, 92, of San Saba, passed away Wednesday, May 18th, 2022. He was born August 5, 1929, in Sabinal, Texas. The younger of the two sons of Linnie and Louis Rochat, he and his family moved to San Saba in the summer of 1941, settling on Wallace Creek Road. After graduating from high school in San Saba and several adventures as a ranch hand in Colorado, summer forester in Montana, and a US census worker, he attended Tarleton State College. Following the outbreak of the Korean War, he joined the United States Air Force, serving as the radar countermeasures technician NCOIC with the 68th A&E Maintenance Squadron, 68th Bomb Wing at Lake Charles AFB, Louisiana. Following his discharge from service in 1952, he helped on the family ranch then joined Pioneer Airlines in San Angelo. It was there he discovered his love of the weather and began working for the United States Weather Bureau. In 1957, he married Clione Burleson Rochat of Richland Springs. They moved from one duty station to another throughout Texas. He completed his bachelor's degree in meteorology at Texas A&M in 1974 and was eventually assigned to the weather office in Jackson, Mississippi where he remained until his retirement in 1984. Following retirement, he enjoyed his time on the ranch and with friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis James and Linnie Rochat and his brother, Louis James Rochat 2nd. He is survived by the mother of his children, Clione Rochat; his children, Mark Rochat and Lise Bonin; grandchildren Evan Rochat, Mandy Rochat, Lillian Bonin, and Olivia Bonin; and numerous friends. He will be greatly missed.
